Selvage Quilt

Oh my! Look at the loveliness!
2010 Scrappy Quilt

You must read see the tutorial for this here. I came across this on a web search and I'm in love!!! I have been saving my selvages, and almost tossed them out when I reorganized my sewing room. Wow, am I ever glad I saved them!

My Favorite Things

I love Etsy. It's so nice to have a place for crafters to sell their crafty crafts. These are some of my favorite things on Etsy.
Please feel free to add a comment with your favorite shops. It's such a huge online marketplace, it's hard to see everything crafty and gorgeous. Sometimes I happen to come across something wonderful that I would have never found by a search.

OOAK Artist Doll Circus Elle
Art Dolls by Lotus Asylum

You can visit Lotus Aslyum to see all of the creepy but gorgeous dolls she creates. I have a lotus asylum doll that I absolutely adore. Working with Lotus is such a pleasure. She recently opened a new button shop and it is growing daily. The photos of the dolls just don't do them justice (although she does take beautiful photographs).  I have my Lotus doll on a shelf, and I always get comments and compliments on her.

Little Knit Owl Hat for Baby, Many Color Choices Available
The Little Knit Lovey  creates some really cute knit baby items. I wish I had found this store when my little girl was a newborn. I love everything in this shop, and I can't wait for next winter so I can order some of these cuties for my babies.

Mail Holder - Chalkboard - Chalk board - Key Hooks - Jar Vase - Organizer - Coat Rack - Wood

I love these, and they come in a huge range of colors. I have my eye on the turquoise! Legacy Studio creates some gorgeous home accents, and the shipping is very reasonable for large items.  Honestly, you couldn't buy all of the items needed to re-create this yourself for the price (and think of all that labor).  Really a great item that is not only functional, but beautiful!

Scottish Sea Glass Jewelry - Sea Glass and Sterling Silver Anchor Necklace ....... SEAFOAM ANCHOR

Scottish Sea Glass Jewellery  creates some gorgeous pieces. I love everything in this shop!!! There are some really special personalized pieces as well.
SPRING CLEAN SALE--Super Sweet White Snow Owl - Ceramic Figurine - Knick Knack - Home Decor - Paperweight

If you love Vintage items...which I have a new fascination with white one's in particular, you will love this shop! Owls everywhere, and tons of cute upcycled vintage finds. A Second Life  has great prices and very reasonable shipping as well.

There are tons more shops on Etsy that I adore, and I will try to post a few every week! Please leave comments with items or shops you've found while hunting for goodies on Etsy!

It's a Hoot

This is a Jelly Roll baby quilt that I'm currently working on. I'm making a tutorial for it as well. I haven't decided how to bind it, or if I'm going to add a solid border or not. Any suggestions?

It will only require 20 Jelly Roll strips and about 1 yard of backing and binding fabric. I love easy afternoon quilts, especially for baby shower gifts. This one shouldn't require more than a few hours to compete.

I love the ”It's a hoot” fabric by MoMo for Moda. It was so hard for me to break into my stash of this! Does anyone else have a hard time using fabric you adore?

Fabric Scrap **Sparkle** Eggs

Fabric Scrap **Sparkle** Eggs

I love this tutorial by Sew, Mama, Sew! It's a great use of fabric scraps and a great project to share with the kids. I can't wait to make some of these cute little eggs for my daughter to take to daycare for her Easter egg hunt.

Lark Rag Quilt

One of the custom orders I made for Etsy. I love these prints from the Lark collection by Amy Butler. These are the prints in the glamour colorway. Rag quilts are so easy to make, but the time spent cutting, laying out the pattern, sewing, and snipping really adds up for one this size. I hate snipping, but it has gotten easier since I invested in some rag quilt snips.

Easy Baby Quilt

I made this quilt for one of the girls that works at my Starbucks. She's having a baby boy in a couple of months. This was such an easy little quilt. I used 3” x 22” strips (from a fat quarter). Then put sashing around the edges in Kona Charcoal. The backing is also solid Kona Charcoal.  For the binding I used one of the prints cut in 2” strips and made double fold binding (I don't cut on the bias). I machine quilted in a meandering pattern and attached the binding by machine. So easy, it took me about 2 hours. It finished at around 26” x 28” which works perfectly for a car seat. I liked this size because it didn't add extra bulk around my baby when he was little. It also works well if they get attached, because it won't drag the ground when they start running around.

Coming Soon!

I love Tula Pink. I love every collection that she has created. I didn't develop my fabric obsession until after some of her earliest collections came out, so I don't have everything she's created, but I do have Parisville, Prince Charming, and Hushabye. I have to say, I am so excited about the Nightshade collection that is coming soon! I hope I am able to get this collection for the shop...and keep a little for my stash!

You can see the entire collection on Tula's website here

Beginner Simple Stripes Quilt Tutorial by Diary of a Quilter

Diary of a Quilter - a quilt blog: Simple Stripes Quilt Tutorial

I follow Amy on her blog and she is by far one of my favorite bloggers and quilters. This would be a great first project for a beginner. I started out with rag quilts, but soon got tired of all the snipping. I wish I had found this before I made my first quilted quilt. I love the fabric in this quilt, I actually have some of the prints in my stash!
She sells patterns as well...gorgeous!

New Fabric Shop

I will be opening my new fabric shop in a couple of months. I haven't decided if I will sell exclusively through Etsy, or open my own online shop. Designing my own shop seems like a scary task, but I would love to be able to create the shop of my dreams. I will be offering discount codes and tutorials on this blog, so if you are interested in fabulous designer fabric, please follow me for updates. I will be carrying Moda pre-cuts and yardage as well as Westminster, Free Spirit, and possibly some Kona solids. Amy Butler, Parson Gray, Joel Dewberry, Dena Designs, Momo, Tina Givens, and many more!
Look for a giveaway coming soon! I'm thinking a charm pack from one of my favorite designers!
